Best place to try for holiday rentals in Spain?

I'm looking for a self catering apartment or house in Spain - or even a farm stay. Where should I be looking? Is there a Spanish equivalent to gites?

We're looking for somewhere that does not cater to those looking for Sunday roasts or full English breakfast if you know what I mean!!! Beach or Mountains - this is for the end of August. I feel we may have left our run a little late!?

Have you tried airbn?. Some great places on there. You could go alpujarra area or andalucia for mountains and still be able to drive to a beach if you fancy. if you are renting a car look carefully at the small print. Some of the cheaper ones will add on fuel/insurance once you go to pick it up.
