We are planning to go to West Coast US road trip..
Highway 1 is closed and will remain closed for another year... is it worth going now or wait for another year?
Dd will be off to uni next year so this was supposed to be our special holiday and have been saving for this

How much of the highway is closed?

There will be routes around the closures I am sure, and you will still be able to get to the towns and resorts on the coast.

Well you'll miss out on some of the coastal scenery, which is a shame.

Is it just closed at Big Sur? surely the whole road isn't shut?

But there are still loads of cool towns and places to visit along the coast that you'll be able to see.

We travelled south from Oregon as far as LA and it was a great trip.

where is it closed?

we went from San Francisco to San Diego years ago, it was fab

actually, I'd wait

Thanks everyone... I was trying to fit in so much in this trip.
If you look at my other thread you'd know and realise it is better to do the scenic drive when big sur opens again. I read it is a severe blow to the tourism on the coastal highway.
