Beach near Malaga

I'm going to visit family in Spain. They live a couple of hours inland of Malaga and aren't really too fussed about beaches. My DC aged 10 and 7 have never seen the med before so I'd like to take them to a beach at the beginning or end of the trip (only 4 nights). Is there a beach that is easy to get to and nice to swim not too far from the airport? We usually camp in France or Holland so I don't have much experience with med resorts.

There is a beach at Malaga itself. On google maps, the Playa la Malagueta is described as a city beach with playground which sounds good for your DCs.

A little further east, there's an area with a load of sea breaks, so that should mean that the swimming is safe - www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Pedregalejo+Playa,+M%C3%A1laga,+Spain/@36.7207315,-4.3791654,1186m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0xd72583fab6796c1:0x4370cb32c04c03de!8m2!3d36.7209901!4d-4.3781966?hl=en

Where inland are you going I love that area and have been all over, but depending on where you are going and whether car/public transport might mean different places are easier to get to.

Further west, Fuengirola is OK in a large holiday resort of way - all nationalities including Spaniards go there so it's less of an English Breakfasts place. So there is a water park, skate park, play parks as well as beach/sea. Have a fab holiday.
