Car seat for 7 year old

Hi,

I see that these days a full size car seat seems to be recommended rather than just a booster cushion for children up to 12 years old and I wondered if others had experience of which is best?

We tried our 7 year old in lots of full size car seats today that are recommended for up to age 12 but in all of them he was too large for either the width across the shoulders or the head hole.

Do others feel that a booster cushion is reasonable at this age, and if so, do you have any idea of how to make the child's head comfortable if they go to sleep in the car?

Thanks!

You can buy some high back boosters that adjust width ways as well as height. I have a kiddy guardian in my car , which fits toddler to around 12 years and my 9 year old niece still fits in comfortably. Kiddy do a high back booster too that adjusts in the same way.
