Madrid - anyone been?

What is Madrid like for a weekend break? Good place to go for some shops, culture and food?

Yup!! Madrid is lovely. Really enjoyed myself there and also Rome if you want to consider that - fabulous shoes there!!

Yes, Madrid is definitely a good weekend destination. As is Barcelona.

Madrid can be baking hot. Plaza Mayor is brilliant.

Great architecture, gardens and museums. Good shopping - they've even got an M&S!

Lots of beggars, some with deformity.

I love Madrid and Rome, never been to Barcelona but here it's much more expensive there. Great bars/tapas in Madrid, fabulous museum the Prado. There's a great paella restaurant too will see if I can remember the name.

Fantastic although the girls are very beautiful and really do dress up - I spent a weekend there feeling a bit like Vikkie Pollard on America's Next top Model
