Central London Hotel suggestions for DH's birthday

Need to book a hotel for 24 March with no kids for DH's birthday. Have stayed at Le Meridian Piccadilly before but would like to try somewhere different ideally with a pool. Any ideas? Re: One Aldwych are the basic rooms really small? Cheers.

have a look at zetters in clerkenwell.... not sure it has a pool though!

My sister thought Malmaison in Clerkenwell was lovely, on a quiet square too. I've only stayed in a suite in One Aldwych (dahling!) but it was fab
The Zetter looks great and the reviews on tripadvisor are good.
We got a 500 a night suite at the Great Eastern for 117 on Laterooms and Threadneedles is 5 star City and simiar prices at weekends.

And def look on laterooms.com

Thanks everyone for suggestions. I am currently studying laterooms very carefully! There are some great deals to be had. Your suite at One Aldwych sounds fab Wickedwaterwitch but don't think it is in our budget for this birthday (maybe when he's 40!)

Malmaison is lovely, though the room we had was very small. It's also very quiet round there at weekends; a bit too quiet for my taste on a child free weekend! We have got some great deals through Lastminute in the past year in London.

Its pricey but fab

Charlotte st hotel

or

St Martins lane hotel...beautiful, plus the light bar does the best cocktails ever, and just across the road is j sheekeys fish restaurant(sister to the ivy) not poncey at all. wonderful service and atmosphere. gets pretty booked up though.

Thanks for all all your suggestions. In the end we couldn't get away on th 24 March as ds2 was poorly but we did manage to get away this weekend just gone. We booked Le Meridian Picadilly as before and I have to say we had a lovely time. Fantastic pool and we managed to get our breakfast included in our deal through Hotel Direct who I would definately recommend.

Had a lovely relaxing weekend and as the chidren hardly missed us at all (having far too good a time with Nanny and Grandad) we shall be hoping to make getting away a more regular thing! I shall use one of the Mumsnetters suggestions next time!
