Apartments in Rome. Where's the best place to be located?

In the centre or near the metro? Any recommendations would be much appreciated too. Plus other tips on what to see/where to eat etc. Been to Italy many times but never Rome.

In the centre is good, near to Campo di Fiori is a great spot. Fairly easy walk to most tourist sites from there, and not far to walk over to Trastavere in the evening.
