We can go any time in the next 12 months.

I went last year, end of November for a week so we were there for thanksgiving.
The weather was very mixed, it was freezing and snowing the one day, the next day we were ice skating in Central Park with just tshirts on!
Fab time of year to visit though!
We stayed at The Westin on Times Square, it's on west 42nd street. Perfect location, lovely hotel x

NOT August is all I would say. Unbearablyou hot which will cramp your sightseeing. We went in Feb last year too and was -16 degrees which was also pretty unbearable. I agree with Oct and pre-Xmas. Enjoy!!

We went in May, perfect time, warm like our summer. Absolutely loved spending the day at south street seaport.

We stayed at the Sofitel, fab hotel, actually probably a little too classy for our needs, we spent such little time in the room.

My old boss made a good point, he stayed in Brooklyn, he said that way they got to see the NY skyline etc, which you don't get when you stay in manhattan.

Have a wonderful time, I'm excited for you!

We went for Christmas and agree with others about how magical it was. We wrapped up warm and walked pretty much everywhere, there was snow on the ground but it didn't actually snow whilst we were there. We went and saw 'white Christmas' on broadway, bought Christmas decorations from Bloomingdales, ice-skated and did lots of other lovely things. We stayed at the Barclay intercontinental which was very central and had big rooms.

We have also been at Easter and there was a freak heatwave and it was unbearable! That time we stayed in an Art Deco best western hotel and whilst the decor was lovely, the rooms were tiny and it was quite noisy.

We stayed in an Airbnb in Brooklyn the most recent time we were there.

Been in October which was lovely (unseasonably hot) and August which was predictably hot! Great trips both times. Stayed at the Hotel Giraffe both times. Not cheap but lovely - great snacks etc served in reception and an oasis of calm. Good location too - 23rd from memory.

We went October. First few days were freezing, the next few days were really really warm. We stayed at the shellburne near Times Square. Was a great location as a base.

New York is wonderful any time!
I've been end of Nov- Dec and it's quite festive but bitterly cold .
Feb time was cold but not so bad but not bright blue skies .
Spring and summer and good, it is hot but so many air conditioned places I didn't notice the heat ( we spent 6 months living there )
I like the Battery Park city area as it's quiet and an easy bus or subway rise ant where.
Times Square in my opinion is best avoided its touristy and trashy and busy .great for a visit but there are so many more interesting places to stay.
We went last summer with 3 kids and stayed at the Kimberly which is well located near the Waldorf Astoria. It was fab , especially as we got a 2 bed suite which gave us space.Staff also really lovely .
There are so many places to stay and go you can't go wrong!

Summer makes it more important to escape the humid tourist trap areas of Manhattan, but plenty of other places to go.

If sharing a (lovely 1920s-style) bathroom with one other room isn't a dealbreaker, I would recommend the Harlem Flophouse - near an express subway, Columbia uni and thus diners for breakfast, large rooms with vinyl collection and downstairs lounge to hang out in. Only 4 rooms.

We have stayed at The Library which is on Madison Ave near Grand Central station. Comfortable room. Great breakfast - fruit, pastries, juice and coffee machine. Lounge available 24 hours with drinks and snacks and wine and cheese in the evening.
