Can anyone find this (possibly fictional...) place for me please??

We are hoping to go on holiday for around 10 days in September sometime (dates are flexible) with our (then) 1 year old and 2 year old.

Ideally we'd like to stay in a small town, with a beach, and a pretty town centre with some shops, restaurants and other amenities. We've actually said we'd like to stay somewhere like Falmouth in Cornwall, but abroad.

I've been trying and failing to google as I'm not really sure what to put in.

Can anyone help please with recommendations. We don't really care what country etc it is in, although, we are not keen on a flight to say Turkey/Greece/Cyprus.

Thank you!

Malta? My friend has just come back from there and raved about it. You can visit the Popeye village which is lovely too.

Corsica?

So I'd vote for either Dubrovnik

or Santillana Del Mar but despite the name it's a short drive to the beach.

Luckystar1 · 07/05/2017 14:33

Oh Malta, now that does sound nice. Corsica has also jumped out from a few searches too. Do either of you know anywhere specific in those places please?

I'm finding I can go on an endless wild goose chase looking for actual specific towns etc.

Dubrovnik, I'll definitely have a look too (and at the other one!)

Thank you so much!

Perros-Guirec in Brittany, on the beautiful pink granite coast.

Costacoffeeplease · 07/05/2017 15:10

Carvoeiro in the Algarve

How about Porec in Croatia? It's further north than Dubrovnik and the town is very pretty. There is a little road train that runs around the coast connecting up the beaches (more rocky than sandy though, if I remember rightly). Also very easy to catch a ferry across to Venice.

Corsica! either Ile Rousse in the north - fly to calvi, one hour drive from there. Town beach then other wilder ones a short drive or mini train out of town. Plenty of places to eat and walk to in the evening.
OR - Porto Vecchio in the far south, fly to figari rather than ajaccio. Beautiful, beautiful town with main square and nice swimsuit / perfume shops adn zillions of restaurants to choose from. Beaches are a drive from there though, however some of the greatest beaches i've ever seen (& there have been a few...) are within half an hour (s. cyprien / calla rossa / palombaggia / sta guilia). It's MAGICAL. and you can go inland to mountains which smell of herbs

Most of Minorca fits the bill.

NapQueen · 07/05/2017 15:40

Nice?

BestIsWest · 07/05/2017 15:45

Cascais in Portugal. Very pretty, lovely park for little ones, small beaches. Sea very cold though - just like Falmouth.

Glitteryfrog · 07/05/2017 15:49

Argeles sur mer and colliure?
Argeles is more tourist town.
Colliure is very pretty.

Fly to Perpignan.

SwedishEdith · 07/05/2017 15:53

Dinard in Brittany.
Saint-Georges-de-Didonne in Poitou Charentes

PocketNiffler · 07/05/2017 15:54

Faro in Portugal?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 07/05/2017 15:57

Brittany would be perfect - I lived in Carantec and it is prettymuch as you describe. Also, plenty of the smaller resorts in the Balearics would fit the bill if you want guaranteed sunshine.

Elphaba99 · 07/05/2017 16:06

Villefranche and similar along Côte d'Azur might be suitable. If not, another thumbs up for Dubrovnik.

MargotMoon · 07/05/2017 16:45

Another vote for Dubrovnik or environs.

Also Santa Eulalia on Ibiza is a lovely town

Luckystar1 · 07/05/2017 21:34

AirBiscuitEater · 07/05/2017 21:44

Pefkos, Rhodes? Or Katelios, Kefalonia.

Love the Greek islands!

Makemineacabsauv · 07/05/2017 22:29

Kassiopi Corfu

bobthebuddha · 07/05/2017 22:51

Collioure (southern France), Honfleurs (northern France), or Cadaques in Spain might fit that bill

Luckystar1 · 08/05/2017 09:24

Wow thank you all. Such great suggestions. Now to get the children to leave me alone for more than a nano second to look...
