Anyone cruised with a baby before. My DD will be 14 months when we go at the end of the month... any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How lovely! Where to and for how long?

NannyL · 13/03/2007 19:26

what ship are you going on?

P&O are great... the have a night nursary from 6pm - 2am (latest) so u can put baby to sleep in a cot and know he or she is safe

you cant leave them alone in the nursary until they are 2 years (on P&O) but you CAN accompany them while they have a lovely play in the AMAZING nursary with every toy ever and soft play etc!

the provide baby baths, buggies , sterilisers, pottys, cots, childrens knifes and forks and possibly every else u could think of needing as well!

also have nice kids pools on aurora and oceana!

We are going on the Oceana. I have cruised before since I was a child but never with a baby!! We are going to Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Rome, Florence, Corsica and a few other places. Do they really provide baths? I was wondering how I was going to bathe her cos I know they only have showers in the cabins. I was worrying about the night nursery because it will mean waking her at 2am and then trying to get her back to sleep again!! Thanks for the info though.

yes they do

i came off oceana just a week and a half ago (oh im sooo jelouse!)

she will love to splash around in the pirate pool and will have so much fun playing (accompanied) in "treasure chest"

they do kids tea at 5.15. with 'childrens' stuff + small portions of the gorgouse adult food if they are adventurouse!

You will find loads to eat in 'the plaza' for breakfast and lunch!

I have done 2 cruise on aurora and 1 on oceana! Both ships are great

if you really dont want to wake her up u can put her to bed in the cabin and use the baby listeing service vire you cabins telephone.

there are phones literally EVERYWHERE throughout the ship but its a bit annoying at dinner to have to keep getting up and down!

I always pick up baby (now 4 but previoulst 3 and 2) in the buggy and put a blanket over her and she stays asleep and goes staright back once in the cabin!

have a relaly good time

if you want to know ANYTHING just ask, as i say i got off that ship just last saturday!

What are the price like Nanny? I'm a single mum to 16 month DS and always fancies a cruise. Would like to treat my mum to say thanks for all her help.

Lolly - does your DD still model (I used to be SamsMumLou on CM - dare i say it!!)

Lolly68 · 15/03/2007 11:11

NannyL - thanks for your advice. You must have done the Caribbean cruise - you lucky thing!!? I have been on the Aurora too (when I was footloose and fancy free though!) A couple of nights we want her to sit with us in the main restaurant - we have opted for "freedom" dining as did not want to be made to eat at certain times just in case we couldn't!

Thistime - yes DD still modelling. She will Kids London but it is very quiet at the mo. She is in this months Junior P&B though - so am well pleased with that.

Also you should try cruising. You can get very good discounts if you book a year in advance - go and have a look at the P&O website.

Thistime i personally dont have a clue how much it costs

i go all expenses paid with a family who i used to nanny for!

deal is 4 year old sleeps in my room

oh and yes i DID do the carribean cruise! It was fab. we did barabados, grand caymen, aruba, cozumel, curaco, grenada, port of spain and some where in venevuala.

was too rough to get into one of our mexican ports (whose name i have forgotten) and mayraux tho!

I did the baltic and the arctic on aurora!
We did 'freedom' dining as well and it worked really well for us!

I went with DS1 at 6m - by myself! Well, with my MIL & GMIL, but we were in diff parts of the ship. It was fab! We did a Med cruise - Spain, Majorca, Italy, France etc. I didn't wean DS1 until we got back which made life a lot easier I didn't use the nursery or listening service, just took him with me in the buggy, and he slept in there when he fell asleep. I'm very laid back about that sort of thing though.

Lolly68 · 16/03/2007 10:53

NannyL - all expenses paid... now I'm really jealous! 2 weeks today and I will be on my way to Southampton!

NannyL or anyone else been on Oceana:

We are going on her in May (Yipeeeeeee!) with DS1 (6) and DS2 (2.5). Is there a pool DS2 can use, still in nappies?

I ask, because we went on Aurora when DS1 was in nappies, and was disappointed to find he wouldn't be allowed (understandably I suppose) in the pools - but your posts suggest there may be a kiddy pool toddlers can use?

I may be back to ask more questions, if you're around!!
