Anyone able to recommend somewhere fantastic to stay, hotel for family of four? We're thinking of going at Easter for a week-10days. Keep hearing mixed reviews and looking for suggestions. Marrakech, Essaouria? anywhere else?

if going for 10 days, go to both marrackech and ess. - a taxi between the two takes three hours and costs about 40 quid.

I'd book a room or two in a riad - look in alistair sawdays places to stay - a wide price range

the riads are in the old interesting parts - the modern hotels are on the outskirts

ess is lovely and def stay in a riad - i can't remember the one we stayed in but we had a split level room and the service and help we got was amazing.

if you do decide to go for a hotel bear in mind that although it is warmer than here outside pools aren't heated so might not be warm enough to swim in yet.

the riads we stayed in were also really good at cooking what we wanted and when we wanted so lots of salads, tagines and fish or chicken skewers - not expensive at all and no tummybugs have fun x

newgirl, great advice we're checking out the riads now, they sound fantastic! thanks for the top on going to both marrakech and essaouria, will hopefully manage to find something free in both!

We spent a month in Morocco a few years back.
i found practically everywhere great, whether it was a swanky place or a shed.
Love it.

Morocco is a beautiful country, with its ancient towns, coastal resorts and snowy peaks. This North African kingdom boasts 1,400 miles of coastline, year-round sunshine and an open invitation to tourists and investors all over the world. Once visited it is very difficult to leave without yearning to return. Morocco is a highly sought after destination when it comes to holidays but recent developments have helped the country to attract property investors. Agree, Essaouria is fab. Can be a bit windy though. Marrakech is amazing but can be pretty full on, you do get hassled a fair amount by people trying to sell you stuff. Still well worth a visit though. The main square at night is great fun, lots of food stalls and a brilliant atmosphere.

Spent 3 weeks touring Morocco in a minibus with 16 like minded folk after leaving uni.
