VISA advice needed for Hurghada, Egypt

Hi, does anyone have any advice about getting a visa for Egypt?

The Egyptian embassy says not to book travel without a visa but we're planning to go in December and are getting good deals online right now. I don't want to leave it too late to book.
Another problem we have is that dh doesn't have a British passport but he has ILR. Apparently he'll need some kind of pre-visa clearance. I'm worried if I book the holiday, and for some reason dh is refused a visa (no reason for this, but I'm worried!) it'll be crap.

What should I do?

You'll need to look up the requirements for your DH, as they may be difficult if he holds certain nationalities (from nearby countries, mostly). He will certainly need a valid passport with plenty of time left in it

It says here that EU nationals can buy a visa when you arrive (that what we did when we went to Hurghada last May and what we will do again when we go at Xmas.
