Just curious - has anyone ever been to Florida and NOT been to DisneyWorld?

Oh yes, we took DS twice last year (as my mum lives over there). There is lots more to Florida than Disney, especially the Everglades and the Keys etc.

...and obviously is fab for shopping too

We bought a travel guide book whilst we were there which was much better than any we had seen over here as it had more of the smaller attractions listed..and less of the Disney.

week on the coast and week in the keys stopping in Miami... Loved it but did not have children then.

See I would love to save up and go but the cost doubles when you add your park tickets etc. I thought the Everglades looked lovely and the orlando flexi tickets seem as if they would be more than enough the keep the kids happy....plus if I'm honest, I've never really fancied Disney....I imagine it to be packed to the brim with screeching kids and over-bothered parents etc...! I love the look of one of their hotels though, the Safari one...

Oh imagine that and treble it.....I found it to be just too much. It wasn't the kids though it was the weird disney obsessed american adults!!! Oh and the food there was crap

Oi sugarbones.... are you not the lady that is currently struggling to save up spending money for Ibiza?? Forget florida.

Washersaurus · 10/03/2007 20:37

And we stayed in the safari hotel last year too - it was a huge overpriced disappointment . Would recommend staying somewhere else and just visiting that one particular park (which is the only disney park we visited)

We went as a once-off when an insurance policy paid out. I can confirm the food is very crap.

we went in December to see friends in Miami, then went on to the Keys, went to see the dolphin research place which was the highlight of the holiday dd 18 months and I were whopping with excitment. I did the disney thing with no kids and would hate it now to much waiting about. If it is sea and sand I would go to Greece, better food and nicer people.

Hi Sugerbones - we are going to Florida in October and have booked a villa on the Gulf Coast just south of Sarasota. No Disney for us this time although we might drive back up to Tampa for the day to visit Busch Gardens.
