best hotel in Las Vegas

I can't decide what hotel to go for in Las Vegas for one night, midweek during our USA trip this summer.
Budget is up to 200 dollars for a family room. Would like to be close to or on the strip with a pool. Must have a car park. Check out as late as possible.
Any recommendations or places to avoid? The choice is bewildering me!

Not sure about the best, but Planet Hollywood is good. It's part of a shopping complex so has a massive car park. Is on the strip and has a pool.

Ask about resort tax I think it was called. I thought we'd got a reasonable deal and then had to pay a load extra as a hidden charge when we checked in.

I also rate Planet Hollywood but have also stayed at New York New York, Caesars Palace, TI and the MGM all of which were great.

I would think all of the major strip hotels have a car park and pool.
Use a comparison site and filter by facilities to be sure.

Avoid Circus Circus. It's a shithole.

Agree with PP regarding resort tax. I think it's an additional 12%.

Have stayed at Paris, Flamingo and Golden Nugget. All nice! Golden Nugget is old Vegas (Fremont St) so only stayed one night there. Next time I would like to stay at Cosmopolitan with a Bellagio view room but it's pricy.

Monte Carlo was really nice. Good pools and very central on the strip. The room was very clean and comfy. Not really expensive either.
If money wasn't an issue I'd stay in the Bellagio or the Wynn/Encore.
I'd avoid Excalibur like the plague- dirty, smelly and very old. I'd also avoid Circus Circus and the Stratosphere is really far away from everything else.
I'm so jealous- Vegas is my favourite place! You'll have such a good time.

For one night, I'd stay in any of the big name strip hotels south of Caesars. The Quad and Luxor should be within budget. They all have car parks.

Hooleywhipper · 18/04/2017 14:58

MGM I would recommend

Misspilly88 · 18/04/2017 15:00

Caesars is way overrated and the casino downstairs full of smoke which you have to walk through to get to your room. Wouldn't recommend.

Stayed at Caesars, Venetian, Wynn & SLS Casino. SLS is the other end of the strip (closest to Stratosphere) but has monorail direct from the hotel going into central strip and is the newest hotel. Beautiful decor and rooms and one of the cheapest and nicest I think. I actually preferred this room over our room in Caesars (very standard abit like UK Premier Inn or Travelodge but paid mega $$$ for it!)

Rio rooms are all suites but a little further out, only heard good things about it but depends on what you'd prefer :)

Have a fab time, I'm not at all jelous haha!

It's called the Linq now, sorry, not the Quad.

The westgate is cheap, rooms are ok but you are bothered by timeshare everytime you go downstairs. Also you have to factor in resort fees for most hotels which is a rip off.

LapinR0se · 18/04/2017 15:11

Rooms are v cheap in vegas. Check on hotels.com

I have stayed at the Venetian, wynn encore, the bellagio and the cosmopolitan.

Venetian rooms are enormous and it's bang in the middle of the strip. Stay there if you can

HappenstanceMarmite · 18/04/2017 15:15

If you don't stay on a Friday or Saturday night, the rooms cost you less than half price in some hotels.

We stayed at Mandarin Oriental which was great as it's non-gaming which means you can escape the gaming madness if you want to!

kimnews · 19/04/2017 18:22

I second Mandarin Oriental - it's number one on Trip Advisor for a reason! We got married there two years ago.

Also highly recommend The Platinum - massive suites with balconies just off the strip.

One night isn't enough though!
