Will it be a nightmare?

Hello!
Yes we have done it many a time at varying times of the year!
Are you planning to do it in one go, stop overnight, what time do you plan to arrive in Calais, what age are your DC etc etc!?
Will then respond further.

My parents have a lovely villa in the Languedoc and we drive there often. We always go via Clermont Ferrand so know the journey well. We tend to do the outward leg in 2 parts (so that my husband need only take a half day holiday) and coming back all in one day so yes, it is do-able.
When we go, we get to Calais about 5.30pm, stop about 7pm for food and to get the children (5 & 2) into pyjamas and then drive to Orleans to stay over.
I reckon it'll take about 6.5 hours of driving, plus stops. So it depends how many times you stop, and for how long.
It is a pretty simple journey apart from going through Paris. You can go other ways, avoiding Paris, but it is further and takes quite a bit longer.
If you need simple directions, just let me know!
