Do you get a letter, email or anything to confirm you've been authorized or do I just print out the website page as proof?

Just print out the page. And take it with you. We were told that we wouldn't need proof as it was all electronic, and that was true for airports, but we were asked by one hotel and also when we went on a cruise for the documentation proving we had an ESTA. Luckily I had printed it.
