I'm looking for a smart'ish hotel in London, quite central. Dh was given the option of a spa weekend break somewhere near us or London and he said he just wanted to go to London, chill out and 'feel the buzz' !!!
Errm, I'm sensing a mid-lifer coming on!
So, please do you have any ideas. It's in May so I need to get a move on.

Budget?

twelveyeargap · 06/03/2007 13:23

Hard to say without a budget, but Renaissance Chancery Court has a spa and as it's generally a business hotel, might not be extortionate on weekends.

Sanderson has a renouned spa although I don't like the flimsy curtains between treatment areas, as opposed to walls.

Mandarin Oriental if money is no object.

K West looks nice although it's in Shepherd's Bush. Not exactly central, but could work if you're on a budget.

Your other option is to find a hotel you like, within your budget and use a day spa elsewhere.

Depends on your budget. Melia White House is just off Euston Road & is a nice hotel. Cheaper if you book online. Novotel Euston is central & OK - good gym & nice food

Sorry, my OP doesn't read that well, he wanted just a nice London Hotel, not a spa hotel.
I would say a budget of about 400 for 2 nights. Does that sound reasonable?
Wanted somewhere that was more 'squishy sofas' and less 'sleek clean lines' IYKWIM.
Quirky or traditional.

I'd say Melia White House then. Emperor size beds in some rooms, nice decor/sofas. Just off Euston Rd so great for tube to everywhere, v nice restaurant in hotel (or visit toptable.co.uk for some recommendations of nearby restaurants

agh i mean here

smoggie · 06/03/2007 13:53

Iklboo - that looks FAB. Its about 340 for a deluxe double for 2 nights.
The Rennaisance Chancery Court looks amazing too - at the mo. there's a 'Quality room' for 150 per night. Can't get pics of those rooms though. The advantage of this would be that they have a spa so we could use itif dh changes his mind!
Mandarin oriental - Hmmm absolutely gorgeous but I'd need a second mortgage to stay there - ooh and a new wrdrobe so I didn't look like the cleaner

I've stayed at the Melia (work paid, I couldn't afford it!) and really liked it there

McDreamy · 06/03/2007 13:55

We stayed in the Melia Whitehouse and it was lovely. We got it through Last Minute.com very cheaply.

smoggie · 06/03/2007 13:56

Lou33 - WOW that place is gorgeous.....so different...and quite reasonable too.
Oh God, I can't decide.

A, might try lstminute once I finalise the hotel...worth a look to see if prices are drastically different.

i got twenty nevern square for half price through laterooms.com

we got a suite, with our own courtyard, and the biggest selection of breakfast delivered to our room

walk in sensors for the bathroom instead of light switches, big tv, beautiful furniture and bedding

its really central too

USAUKMum · 06/03/2007 14:51

I've stayed at the Rennaisance Chancery Court and it was fab. Room was wonderful and just a gentle stroll to some really nice resturants and nightlight.

I didn't get into the spa (was 6 mths pg at the time and didn't realise they catered for that until there) but if it is like everything else in the hotel, it would be great!

Here are photos of rooms, spa, etc

I really like the Great Eastern, especially being in The City at the weekend and walking distance to Tate Modern, Brick Lane etc. We got a £500 room for £126 a night through Laterooms It's not squishy sofas though but v nice. eww, just looked at their site and what used to be a v cool website is now yer standard shitely chain hotel site. Never mind, you get the gist

wurlywurly · 06/03/2007 19:30
