Balkans trip

We have ten days off and want to see some of the Balkans. We're thinking on going into Dubrovnik and ten days later flying home from Sofia.

Anyone else traveled around this area? Any suggestions for stops en route?

TIA!

To go from Dub to Sofia (overland anyway) would involve Montenegro, Serbia, Romania then Bulgaria. That would be too much for 10 days.
I've been to Montenegro and lived in Romania. Both are fascinating and beautiful at least in parts, but not particularly "easy" and would merit longer stays.
What time of year are you thinking of going?

DH went to Sofia a couple of weeks ago.

His opinion is that all there was to do there was leave Grin

He did a guided tour to a monastery which apparently was OK. Other than that, he didn't rate it.

You could fly to Dubrovnik go to istria and Zagreb (fabulous city) and stop in lake plitvice and brilliant train links to all sorts of places. Ljublana is lovely.
