Big houses - South of France - good websites?

Apart from Owners Direct, does anyone know of any good websites to search for holiday cottages/houses in South of France?

TIA

I have booked through Welcome Cottages and Cottages4You for places in Frabnce, inc south of France. They have properties of different sizes and qualities. I like the fact that I don't have to pay the owner direct and have a bit of extra secuirty.

Gobbledigook · 05/03/2007 11:52

Thanks Hula, will try those

Any more?

Anywhere in particular, I might know a few owners down that way.

Gobbledigook · 05/03/2007 11:55

We are looking around Cote d'Azur - have found a really nice one 20 mins away from Cannes and Antibes but obviously want to check out all the options!

There will be 8 adults and 3 children and we definitely want a pool and not too far from coast so we can do beaches. We'll have cars though.

Someone keeps advertising a house in South of France on MN too - not sure on details but might be worth a look.

ChippyMinton · 05/03/2007 11:56

try www.cheznous.com

TenaLady · 05/03/2007 11:58

Ah my contacts are more South westerly.

Gobbledigook · 05/03/2007 11:59

Have seen that one Hula but it's not quite where we want to be.

Thanks, will try cheznous.com as well!

just buying a place myself south of Pau, 1h15 from Biaritz and 30 mins from skiing.

5 beds with own grounds over looking countryside and mountains with a pool. Shame Im not up and running yet. First year will be cheaper in order to get initial interest.

If I find anyone I will post again.

Gobbledigook · 05/03/2007 12:05

Sounds fabulous!! I'd be interested in seeing it!

I just sold a house down that way Spoogs. It is a lovely area albeit very quiet. You will find loads to do in Narbonne Plage. Lovely beach, great parking, can be a little windy so think about a windbreaker. The shops are very close to the beach and the prices for these extras, buckets and spades, windbreakers are quite reasonable.

If you can get into the walled city of Carcassonne, it is a must. Lovely little shops and cafe's all steeped in history.

Gobbledigook · 05/03/2007 12:19

Thanks Spoogs but it's too small for us. We need 5-6 bedrooms really.

Have found one, I've fallen in love with it - need to convince parents now but they are away for 4 bloomin weeks!! Arrhghghggh - we are looking at July/Aug 2008 though so no rush!

We always found Auto Europe to be the cheapest for car hire. Flights to that area are either Carcassonne or Perpignan.

TenaLady · 05/03/2007 12:20

Lets have a look at it then Gobble

TenaLady · 05/03/2007 12:22

ooh be careful they do tend to get booked really quickly. Through August most of France on holiday, so you will be up against the French getting their bookings too.

Gobbledigook · 05/03/2007 12:24

Don't panic me!

this is it - swoonerama

ChippyMinton · 05/03/2007 14:11

gobbledigook that looks lovely. Is there a pool?

Gobbledigook · 05/03/2007 17:59

Yes, you can see the pool on the main pics I think.

how did i miss it?
Some glamorous swimwear required for lounging around that pool

DEE7479551 · 08/03/2007 22:35

It will be really difficult to get to the beach from there in high Summer, how important is that to you?

In the Chez Nous brochure there is the most amazing property, not as smart as the one that you've found but one of the best places that we've ever stayed in for lots of other reasons.

If you contact the owner he can send you much more information.
