South California beaches advice

We are travelling to California this summer as a family of 4, 2 DDs age 10&8. We are going on a road trip for 3 weeks from San Fran, Yosemite to LA and looking for a place to chill and relax by the beach for our last 5 nights. After all the travelling we are looking for a chilled out beach town somewhere between LA and San Diego. Any advice on nice beach resorts would be great, looking for a villa / apartment rental or hotel with a pool and an ocean view, somewhere within walking distance to a beach and restaurants nearby. Any advice on a rental or hotel on that area of coast would be great.

Not sure between LA and San Diego, but Santa Barbara is a lovely town north of LA.

La Jolla. It is the best place near San Diego. Scripps Inn is right near the beach and there are lots of restaurants and shops. It is not a cheap area though.

If you are flying back from LA there are loads of beach areas south of LA but they are more built up. I too like Santa Barbara and Santa Monica. They are north of LA but nicer in my view. Or try Venice Beach.
