First holiday as a single parent

Hi all, I'm looking for advice on where to take my two children (10 and 13) on holiday this year. It will be our first holiday with just the three of us so am absolutely scared stupid!! We've been to a club Med resort for the past few years and loved it as my son is very sporty and loves wakeboarding and my daughter loves making new friends and hanging out by the pool... I love the fact that it's all inclusive so easier to budget...
We have to go in the summer holidays but apart from that I'm open to suggestions!

You will be fine!!! My first holiday as a single parent was so much better than previous holidays with the ex and my dc were young and more needy! Yours are at the perfect age, but be prepared to being left alone in the evening so take books/kindle! Some places are very friendly to single women, other places we've been have been couples galore and not anyone wanting to make new friends! I have found the more expensive AI places have been the least friendly but cheaper SC apartments/studios people have been more inclusive but that might just be my experience and we do more SC holidays. I have never been to club Med so can't comment on whether that would be great as a single parent. Depends on who is in resort at that time I suppose but I do prefer smaller places where you get to know the locals as well.,
We normally go to Greece and prefer eating out and having lie ins (I have teens!) that's probably why SC suits us better, but I like eating out and choosing somewhere to go every evening.
Plus, for your own sanity wherever you choose must have wifi...

I have booked a eurocamp holiday in France for me & DD(4) this summer, our first holiday as a two-some - it looks like the ideal holiday for us with plenty to keep DD entertained, other kids for her to play with (so fingers crossed some time out for me!!) hopefully nice weather and on the beach. We can't wait, although I am apprehensive but sure we'll have a great time.

A first choice holiday village will keep the kis entertained. They are fully staffed on the activities side by UK qualified staff and run numerous kids club and sports sessions a day, football coaching, high ropes, water walkers etc.

Not the cheapest holiday but if you take advantage of all the facilities you won't need to spend a lot once there.

Ellypoo, that's a great choice for a holiday on your own with a wee one! I took mine to a campsite in Italy as I thought I could still sit out in the evening while they went to bed safely in the mobile home. It was so friendly we made friends on day one and I don't have to sit by myself in the evenings but enjoyed bbqs and drinks in the evening when the DC played before bed! Lovely and safe and they loved the outdoors. Enjoy!

Don't be overwhelmed- I am not a single parent but I do take the DCs on holiday on my own of similar ages. We manage just fine and have a grand time. You will have a blast! Good luck, have fun.

I have just posted a very similar tread.. only I have one 13 year old.
I agree having been to lots of 5* al hotels I would certainly feel uncomfortable there on my own.

I also will be taking the kids abroad for the first time alone as a single person. Ive done butlins alone many times and that was absolutely fine although being abroad is much different im sure you will be fine. I must say its much harder when you have younger ones to look after. There are also lots of places offering single parent holidays where you are not the only one.
Camp mates and acorn holidays is a couple that i know. There is also a Facebook page full of single parents from all over the uk and there are many events on there in the uk and abroad. I have met some lovely people on there.
