I just went to book our car hire for holiday this June/ July and the price had risen by £220 from last year ! Shock

We have been going to the same place for the same weeks for several years now and its always been about £450ish for the car hire, .. This year £678!!. (same car , same airport, same duration dates and time of year)

Has anyone else noticed this ?
Its Avis in Greece btw , but similar uplift in prices for Hertz, Europcar etc etc.

Brexit?

Greek debt issues more likely! have you shopped around to some of the smaller providers rather than the big well known ones? have a look at the relevant thread on tripadvisor forums always a good place to find local bargains.

Interesting you say that. We didn't hire a car in Europe last year but this year we need on in italy and one in crete and both seem really expensive compared to what we've paid in previous years.

we've hired one in the canaries and that was still really cheap - so i guess it depends on the country

Ive done some random checking out for quotes on cars in Italy , Spain and France on all of the well known car hire companies.except france , which is a little bit cheaper ( but only a little) they are all up about 25% so sadly its not just Greece..

Our holiday ( same place as last year same time) was also up 20% ..
its gotta be Brexit and the fall of the £ against the euro..
