Are you staying in the actual town of Garda? We stayed there when DD was 11 and loved it. Our hotel had a really good pool with plenty of sunbeds. We explored other towns round the lake by using the ferry, and the town itself was nice to wander around. You can hire bikes to cycle down to Bardolino and Lazise along the side of the lake. There are various markets to visit. I think market day in Garda was on a Friday.

There is a theme park, Gardaland, but it didn't interest us. You can also visit Verona and Venice.

Have done Lake Garda with teens a few times - not stayed in Garda but visited. The lake side path between the towns there is great, allows really easy access.

Our dc loved swimming in the lake, a trip to Sirmione (the place they asked to return to), gelato, the food, Bardolino... Away from the lake, they loved Verona.

We didn't do Gardaland either.

Sirmione is definitely worth a visit, so is Malcesine and Gardone.

We stayed in Sirmione the second time we went. You could see the castle from our hotel window.
