Family weekend break in U.K

2 adults 3 DC aged between 5-8.
Live in London no car so must be accessible by public transport. No more than 3 hours travel in June. Where would you go in the U.K? Would like to go Friday after school and return Sunday night/ Monday.
Any suggestions?

Budget? Most places would need 2 rooms in a hotel. Some youth hostels have rooms that will take 5. Might try one of those.

Bath, Brighton, Canterbury, Oxford or Cambridge, Stratford?

If your in London id go to Broadstairs in Kent. Nice proper seaside town with decent beach and only 1.20hr from Stratford International or Liverpool St. You could see if there is any Airbnb available. Or try any of the Haven places such as Weymouth, Hastings, Essex etc which would be within your 3hr timescale from London

York. 2 hours by train, loads to do, lovely city, large range of accommodation.
