Yes it was Lanzarote, and agree that Playa Blanca is the most Mumsnet appropriate resort if you don't want a villa in the middle of nowhere.

I didn't think Lanzarote was particularly big on golf so googled and came up with:

I really like Lanzarote and have been three times, the first time because we had been to Tenerife 3 times and fancied a change and the other two because we scuba dive and Lanzarote is a really good place to do that.

Otherwise you can go to the volcano park, Cesar Manrique stuff, caves, beach/pool/waterpark/eat/drink/sunbathe, vineyards, ride camels or get boat trips to neighbouring islands.
