New Zealand or Oz for 3 weeks christmas 07

Have promised my long suffering family a 'hot' holiday.
I fancy NZ (outdoorsy type stuff) DW likes the look of Oz.
We have 3 children who will be 10, 8 and 5.

Where should we go???

Second thoughts now about the journey time.

Wondered about the States.
A week in California, Yosemite, highway 1, aquariam etc
Then a week in Colorado on the slopes
Finish on an a hot Island..
