Martinhal Sagres

Weighing up where to go this summer. In the past we usually go to a villa but DS is nearly 6 and I think would get bored if there aren't other kids to mix with. Other DS is 2.
A villa at Martinhal Sagres looks great but slightly concerned that it's at the top end of our budget and whether extras will cost a fortune? Does anyone have any experiences they can share? Also looking at the different villa options. Is it right that you share a garden in a Garden House? In an Ocean House with partial sea view is it just a view of the back of someone else's villa? Where can you sit out once kids are in bed?

It's fab but will indeed cost a fortune.
They have great kids clubs/activities but it's not cheap.
If you have a villa you can cut costs by self catering.
Not sure about the garden/ocean house. We stayed in a villa that was about 5 mins walk to the central area and had own garden, communal pool nearby and sea view from upstairs terrace.
We had a great time but it wasn't cheap.

Watching with interest as we have booked for the first time this summer :)

Thanks pombal, that's what I suspected. Will have to give it some more thought. Really want to go but not much fun if we're watching the pennies when we're there.

Thing is there are plenty of alternatives in the Algarve, on the beach with a kids club that don't break the bank. Maybe not quite as 'naice' as Martinhal, but Martinhal is also in Sagres and outside the resort there is really nothing, especially for a 2 and 6 year old.

Matinhal is great. It's hard to comment about value without knowing your budget and what other options you're considering.

We've been twice and will go again in June/July.

We get an ocean house because they're the best located - a short walk to the main pool / beach, village square etc.

You can buy a lot of cheap food and drink from a supermarket which is about 5 minutes drive away.

The prices on the resort aren't too expensive though, particularly the pizza restaurant.

I highly recommend it.
