Days out from Split

We're off to Split for 4 days in May half term. I've got a Rough Guide but from for anyone with experience, any great local or days out recommendations? I'd be quite keen to see at least one Island! DD will be 9.

The Diocletian Palace in Split deserves a full day.
It has a big port and is a centre for back packers so I'm sure there are plenty of local tours.

Day trip to Hvar - really lovely

I second the trip to Hvar - lovely old town and you can climb up to the fortress on the top of the hill. Brac is also close by. There are also several national parks close by that you can travel to. Its a beautiful city. You will love it.

Thanks all - will fit in a day to Hvar! Written guides are great but nothing like recommendations from someone who's been.
