Hello Mumsnetters. I am giving serious consideration to going to Peru next summer, and I've heard that Kuelap is wonderful - not so touristy as Machu Picchu and far less crowded. However, because it is a little off the beaten track at the moment, I'm having trouble finding anyone who goes there. The only holiday I've been able to find thus far is with Explore! (about whom I've heard good things), but it's a three week break that costs 4K as is thus out of my league.
Kuelap is apparently getting a cable car which will make it a more accessible / popular destination, but I'd like to go in the summer of 2017 if at all possible as I have a significant birthday coming up. Does anyone out there have advice? Thank you.
