Ibiza August 2017 with a 15 and an 11 year old

Hi there,

DH and I are trying to work out where to go with his two DSs next summer and Ibiza has come up as a strong possibility. I would be very grateful for suggestions of areas, hotels, self-catering and anything else anyone can share, please!

The catch:

• DH's boys are used to fully-inclusive hols and have been to Cancun, Benidorm and Sharm El Sheikh
• DH and I have never been on an all-inclusive holiday together, and I have never been on one having systematically avoided them over the years. Also, I am not a pool person as I grew up by the beach, and to me that's what I am looking for from a summer holiday
• We have 7-10 days maximum, and having checked out flights, we'd probably be looking at mid-August
• Renting a car to get us around the island is not a problem
• DH's boys need entertaining. The younger one in particular requires a lot of attention, or he'll annoy his older brother endlessly and open the floodgates every 5 minutes

Sorry, I so wanted to be impartial when posting this and I am trying my best to put together a feasible plan. We went to one of the Greek islands with them a couple of years ago, and it was by far the most stressful holiday I've ever had. Feeding them was a mammoth task as they wouldn't eat anything other than chips and ice-cream, the younger one was constantly annoying everyone else or crying over everything and nothing, and it created a lot of arguments between DH and I. I am still scarred by the experience...

Sound like you need something like Sunsail/Neilsen, where the boys can go off and do activities if they want and you can lie on the beach/swim/do activities too. Food is often buffet style or generally family friendly. Not sure if there is anything like that on Ibiza though!

Or just an all inclusive in Ibiza.

I despise all-incs but truly they are brill for holidays with children. Especially at that age. They can go and get their ice creams/cold drinks etc whenever they want
Look for somewhere with beach activities but not necessarily kids clubs.. I couldn't drag my 12yo to a kids club EVER but he loves the beach stuff.
Also, compromise. You might not be a swimming pool person but trust me it's easier to relax by a pool with the kids swimming there with lifeguards super near than on a beach in the sea with infinite more dangers.

many beaches also have lifeguards, and Med beaches have no tides. Most Med fatalities are due to dicking about, booze or both.

No need for the mucky noisy pool.

It's all inclusive but how about the holiday view seaview Ibiza (through First choice). it has an on site water park but is also right on the beach plus it has a football pitch and football coaching if your 11 yr old is interested. The kids club sessions for the 11 yr old are also included, they do lots of water based games such as raft building, races etc. AI holidays such as this one are perfect for kids who eat and drinks loads and want to be occupied all day - there are activities run from 10am to 11pm. They also run a teen club with activities for 12-15 yr olds. No worries about the amount they eat and drink (ice cream is part of all day all inclusive too) and they specialise in English kids who are picky eaters.

It will be a no hassle holiday.
