Bocketts Farm, Leatherhead just off the M25. It really is a full day out - get there before it opens and use the sand pit/sit on full tractors etc whilst waiting to open (cup of coffee out of your flask) Do the farm stuff, huge great indoor play area lots of other stuff too. Mine love it and can go several times a year. They have a website.

Look on the National Trust Website - might give you an idea of events at castles over half term. Rochester castle often has children's activities in the holidays. Also right by Diggerland!

Mumpbump · 14/02/2007 22:24

Godstone Farm just of M25 - similar to how Bocketts Farm sounds...

Horton Farm Park
British Wildlife Centre (near Godstone)
Groombridge Place
Borde Hill Gardens (lovely adventure playground for the boys - that includes your DH!)
Hop on train to Brighton (not that far, and the kids will love the train ride) - Seaworld/ Pier, and a nice lunch in The Lanes?

Mo2 · 14/02/2007 23:11

Oh, and Sheffield Park/ a ride on the Bluebell Railway? (Don't know if open at this time of year though?)

This is probably too late but see the next thread on Bedgebury Pinetum. Just 1.5 hrs from SE London & really great.

We went to Brooklands. They DSs loved it. I would recommend it. The museums with cars and motorbikes and pedal bikes were interesting (even had an old chopper like the one I used to have!), the boys loved going on the airplanes, altho the concorde 'flight' was a bit boring for them (the video was too long and not really aimed at young children) but it was stil good to go on a concorde! There is a lovely walk around part of the old racing track, and we even dared to race up the old speed test 1 in 4 hill.

All in all a good place to take children. The tea room was perfectly adequate - baked potatoes or chicken nuggets and chips for lunch, and homemade cakes. The only nag was that the babychange thing was in the ladies loo, which meant DH couldnt do DSs nappy. And I did see one dad changing a nappy outside on the grass (good job it was a fine day).

Thanks for all the ideas!
