Croatia 2017 - good package operators

We are considering going to Croatia for our DCs first foreign holiday - possibly the Istrian peninsula since we have heard some good reports.
Are there any tour/package operators who do Croatia? What we have in mind is somewhere near the beach with the possibility of day trips to more cultural things and the islands. Ideally we want a self-catering villa but somewhere near or in a small town so we can eat out regularly. We don't fancy hotels as we want to avoid family rooms.
We plan to hire a car there as well.
Any thoughts?
Our boys will be 8 and 6 by then.

I can't help with package operators but we went to Istria this year and loved it. We stayed in a villa near Pula and rented a car so we saw lots of different resorts and towns.
Most of the beaches are stony there, the only sandy one we found was in Medulin, which was a lovely resort.
It's actually very easy to book everything separately if you don't find a tour operator that does what you are looking for. We booked flights with Norwegian Air and the villa with Home Away and arranged car hire from the airport before we went.
