best hotel in barbados for family and 3 yr old? advice please

i am celebrating dp's 50th and want a nice hotel in barbados for us and dd - not too huge. we saw almond beach club but thought it was a bit naff. any other recommendations? we have a bit of cash but not Sandy Lane type money

Tripadvisor has Almond Beach club top of the families list, but also Turtle Beach, Southern Surf beach apartments, Bougainvillea Beach....
