Egypt with kids - would this be crazy?

Thinking of poss taking kids (9 & 7)to look at pyramids etc at Oct half-term. DH thinks bad idea (they will get ill, be shot by terroists etc.) Has anyone any recetn experience or recommend a company to go with?

I went to see the pyramids on my honeymoon, was fab but I would think your DCs might be too young to enjoy Egypt - it's a big culture shock especially in Cairo, Luxor was much calmer though. Would definitely check the fco's advice before travelling there as there has been trouble in Cairo and on the Sinai penisula - beautiful country and amazing history though...
