We are going to Cambodia for 3 weeks at Xmas .we will be in Pnomh penh on Christmas day and would like to find somewhere special to go for dinner . It will be m DH DD21 DD14 plus another couple . Budget not too much of an issue , we are travelling with trailfinders on a bespoke trip so pretty flexible .I wondered if anyone who knows the city had any suggestions?I've tried Google but not found much to help.

We were there 5 years ago on Christmas Day. Most of the hotels such as Raffles do gourmet Christmas lunches. The cost was about 200 USD each. We could have afforded it but it felt so wrong as we had been traveling in Cambodia for a week prior and seen the poverty so we just had a chill round the city and spent our money with smaller businesses.
A lot of people did the lunches and said they were fabulous though.
Have a great time! We loved Cambodia.

There was a floating restaurant called The Bungalows which you can hire for the evening. You can hire if privately. That looked amazing but was already booked up when we arrived but might be worth looking into.
The FCC is a well known restaurant and bar so that might be worth a look too.

Thank you both - just arrived in Bngkok . Will have a look at your helpful suggestions. We haven't booked anything as not sure what we fancy doing and how we will feel . We're v relaxed and hate dressing up so don't want to go anywhere too stuffy or formal. Will let you know what we decide - happy Christmas!

We had the best meal of our fortnight in Cambodia here. It supports good causes and the food was lovely (also filtered water which was great). It's really friendly, not at all stuffy and I enjoyed it immensely. You would definitely need to book as it is really popular.

Also cocktails at the Foreign Correspondent's Club is good fun - they have a happy hour. The food is OK (actually pretty good) but the food at Friends is better.
