Help! Need copy of my NYC marriage certificate!

Has anyone married in NYC and then been able to get a copy of their certificate? According to the website I can apply by mail and will send passport BUT how do I pay? It's stated either in person or with US postal order?

Any help would be really appreciated as I need a passport in my married name :-)

Hi, I had this problem about 20 years ago so not sure how helpful I can be now. I had to actually go to New York in person, from the UK, line-up at City Hall, downtown near Wall Street, and be given a photo copy of the entry in the register, I found no way around this. Sorry, also not very helpful! Things may have changed now though.

Just read about passport. Might be easier to change name by deed poll?

That's an idea thank you. I think they have changed it recently as their website now says you can apply by post which I have done but need a US postal order to pay

Do you know anyone who works on/has access to a US military base in the UK? They should be able to get a postal order for you there.

Randomly, Barclays Bank will also do US dollar postal orders but it costs about £12
