We're thinking about driving to France this summer.....

We are thinking of renting a Gite in Trun, in Orne, Basse Normandie. Does anyone have any knowledge of the area by any chance please?
How long would it take us to drive there, assuming we get the Eurostar to France in the first place?
Is it too far North perhaps for a summer time holiday? Will the weather be a bit too 'english'?

TIA

We may have been lucky but my experience of Normandy weather is that it's always a little bit warmer than the UK, and we've been in Feb & Mar as well as Jul. Both Jul hols were really hot (2002 & 2004). We were in the Somme in Sep 2006 and DS was in the sea.

AA routemaster can do a journey planner for you. At least 3-4 hours from Calais into Normandy depending whereabouts.
