has anyone flown long haul and used bas britax car seat?????? also used there carrycot spoke to b a and they said dd would be able to use them both (she is 18 months at time of travel)

as there is only £100 between singapore and ba want to know if the car seat is any good
going to perth au
so having a ready seat would be brilliant

I would def go with Singapor airlines - my mum and dad wouldn't fly with anyone else (they don't have young children anymore) I think BA are crap when it comes to looking after parents and children and I fly back and forth from Cyprus very regularily alone with 2 children.

sing dont have this car seat thing so really want to know what this car seat thing is

Car seat thing is great-at 18mts the skycot would be too small IMO.
I used the car seat thing for dd when 8mts and it is just like a car seat but reclines further. They stick it on a fold down flap on the bulkhead-def better than having dd on your lap the whole way!

McDreamy · 07/02/2007 16:22

Thanks if you get a bulkhead seat though, I was promised a bulk head seat twice on a BA flight and both times it wasn't available on the day of the flight either because they changed airlines or demand. (Dispite prior booking)

McDreamy · 07/02/2007 16:22

Sorry that should read "that's if you......" not thanks!!!!

hitchcock · 07/02/2007 16:22

been told by ba that i would get bulk head seats atomaticly and that i dont have to pay for travel seat are they really good then??????

You are travelling on a much longer flight than I travel on so you might be more successful - I just can't recommend BA I have been so disppointed and let down by them so frequently.

hitchcock · 07/02/2007 16:24

Good luck - do Singapore not do sky cots? Or seats at the bulkhead?

PrettyCandles · 07/02/2007 16:28

Used the britax carseat on a BA flight with 15mo dd a couple of years ago. It's great. Nothing like a carseat, more like a deckchair. Fits to the bulkhead like the carrycot does. Dd was very comfy in it and quite happy to rest ad play in it. She slept in our arms but that's just her.

McDreamy · 07/02/2007 16:28

Sorry to put a dampner on BA for you I hope I haven't worried you.

hitchcock · 07/02/2007 16:32

p.c would you use it again????

mcdreamy no you havent put a downer on anything what to know what everyone thinks good or bad

Yes. We didn't get bulkhread seats for the return journey (younfger babies omn board) and it was a much tougher journey without.

hitchcock · 07/02/2007 18:58

I am having a similar dilema will be travelling in Oct to Barbados with DD who will be 18mts, called BA res and a rubbish guy gave me the run around. I wanted to know the pros and cons of the bassinet and britax seat - he was so rubbish that he told me i had to pay for britax seat even though i took him to part of their website which states taht they are free!!

Can anyone please tell me if they have used either and if so how much baby weighed and age, I am really worried about this trip!!

waahwaah · 22/06/2007 13:48

just trolling through topics to see how people deal with baby jetlag without going mad... but that's beside the point! earlier this week I was on a BA flight from Hong Kong and used the cot (they said it was all they had available). It is not very long at all - my DS is only 4.5 months and he was nearly touching the ends. Also it's quite shallow. You'd probably be better off with the seat thing. Lady across the aisle used one for her six month old and he seemed to sleep in it fine. But again, it didn't look very big to me. For what it's worth, I found the BA staff really helpful... so were fellow passengers which was lovely.
