just booked a week in this resort for early may. Never been before and just wondered if anyone has and whether it's a good place for us? 3year old and 18 month old? Thanks

I haven't but good friends have also my parents. Apparently it's very nice.

I've been, it's nice, especially the area round the arena. There are 2 beaches, they are OK, not particularly big or stunning but at least they have sand. Plenty of nice shops/cheap restaurants etc. I went before kids, so didn't notice what was good for entertaining littlies.

Yes, its beautiful. And it was pretty quiet when we went. Although I am talking 14 years ago now

I went in September 2001 - and 9/11 fell bang in the middle of that week.

HI
we stayed a litle bit out of Cala D'or - and found that the best beach ws called Es Trenc - it IS a car journey away - but if you're there for the whole day it's definitley worth it. It's much bigger than the ones in Cala D'or really lovely sand and is shallow and gently sloping.

I've been the last two years in May and its lovely.

First year I was 29wks preg and had a 2 yr old, last year a 3 yr old and a 9 month old.
We also went with cousins aged 2, and 7.And friends aged 12months, and some more 2 year olds. We take up a lot of room in bars!!!

We stayed in a private villa and went with dh family. They payed!

I really like the beaches. They are all little coves not long beaches. I think these are much prettier and natural looking.

They have trains that drive on the road which operate like buses. They have 'train' stops and take you from beach/town to beach. The kids love it.

Cala d'or is the main town/beach and Cala Egos is just a bit along the bay. We've stayed at both.

You can get a taxi to Cala Mondrego which is a protected beach. It only has one shop there and no hotels etc. Lovely for a day trip.

Oh and lastly the marina is nice. Lots of restaurants along the front. Nice to eat looking at the posh boats.

mummytosteven · 05/02/2007 18:01

oooops - I meant the area round the "marina" was nice, not "arena"

Thanks for the replies. I'm really looking forward to it now as it sounds lovely. I prefer little beaches as well, especially with the children. My dd will love the trains!
