What did you think of it? We are thinking of booking at the VVF France holiday village in St Martin. Any advice/ tips would be great.

Ta.

Is that the island you have to pay for everytime you go over the huge bridge! (wish I could be more helpful but we were on holiday just down the road abit and one day we were out ecploring the Islands and so I cant remember which was which. TBH I do remember thinking that both Islands that we went on we good for cycling- well everyone was doing just that!) If it is the island you have to pay a toll for make sure you save your euros as if Im correct I think it cost about 20euros

We went to Ile de Re nearly 2 yrs ago.

It was lovely. Very quiet but beautiful. We didn't leave the island in the 10 days we were there but there is always the option of popping back across the bridge to La Rochelle or somewhere with some action if thats what you want!

There were some lovely beaches varying from sandy to quite pebbly. Lots of towns with morning markets to wander round and buy produce from (we saw Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall at our local one).

The only "touristy" type thing we found or went to was an animal/bird park. Quite basic as attractions go but the children enjoyed it.

Oh, I meant to add that its reputedly a regular haunt for the A-list in search of peace and quiet (eg. Johnny Depp but alas we didn't see him!)

Thanks for your posts. Sorry for the delay in replying, not been online til tonight. Hopefully we wont need to leave the island much apart from when we go home!

Very pretty, nice beaches a couple of nice play areas near the beach for DC- overall if you want a quiet uncommercial holiday go for it.

Its the cycling that makes me want to go there. Sounds great that you can cycle all over the island. Anyone done that?

Yes - we went in Aug 05. Didn't leave the island all the time we were there as the DS wanted to play on the beach - next time I'll take myself off to La Rochelle for the day. Good for cycling, tho' the cycle paths can get congested - but we were there at the height of the toustist season.
