Holiday resorts for a family near Barcelona

Can anyone suggest somewhere near Barcelona for a family holiday? Want to see a bit of the city - DS wants to see the football stadium but that will only be a couple of days so looking for a family resort nearish by?

Hi there you could rent an apartment for a few nights then go on elsewhere. Airbnb / booking.com...but don't hang about as the good ones get booked up. You could stay in Cambrils or Sanguli...or up around the coast...Begur is fab!!

We always find really nice Airbnb places in Badalona. It's just north of Barcelona. The beaches are lovely and it's not crawling with tourists.

But be sure to pick a place close to the beach.

Salou is a nice Spanish resort, just south of Barcelona, with a very nice beach.

Pineda de Mar is nice, has hotels but is a working spanish town so doesn't feel massively touristy. Has restaurants and bars but no nightclubs etc. About an hour on the train straight down the coast to Barcelona. Also near there are the bigger more commercial resort towns of Calella, Santa Susannah and Blanes.
