Taking a high-backed booster seat on a plane - any tips?

We're flying abroad soon and the airline states that they will carry a HBB free in the hold, but they say it has to be packaged securely?

Apparently you can rent a bag-thingy to store it in, but that's £17 for a week. I think it will need to go in something though, else I can imagine the back part being ripped from the seat part in transit!

Does anyone have any tips or has found a good way to transport them that is quick and easy to achieve at the airport (given that the seat will be in use on the journey to the airport?)
