Hi

I'm currently on holiday in Oz, travelling around the east coast. We're wondering whether to book ayres rock for the last week, but have our DD 3 with us. So far she's proved to be a pretty good traveller and fairly adaptable, but i'm wondering whether this would be too much and not worth the bother. Has anyone done it this time of year with kids? Or are there any aussies out there with advice? I'm worried about the heat, what's there and where we can stay and of course whether it's going to be far too dull for her. Any advice, comments etc appreciated.

thanks,
Jo

first of all - whatever you do when you are there - do not call it Ayers Rock - it is Uluru - that is its traditional name. No one calls it Ayers Rock anymore as it is offensive to the aboriginal people.

I am in Aus. I have not been there but I would imagine it is very very hot. Friends who have been there stayed

here although I think it would be too much for her - it is probably an opportunity that you can't miss. You could relax during the day and then perhaps do the sunset tour which takes you out to see the sunset over Uluru. You can also journey out to the Olgas from there as well.

Have a look at the website and perhaps check out tours etc that you might think are okay.

you are looking at temperatures up to the high 30 degrees but cooling right down to the high teens at night this time of year.

might help

I think Uluru might be quite hot and boring for a three year old.
