Hello
We are catching the overnight ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland next week, and then driving up to mid-Jutland in Denmark intending to do the whole drive in one day. This is the first time we've taken this route as always travelled via Esbjerg before they stopped that ferry route.
Will be travelling with DH and DS1 age 6 and DTs age 3.
Arriving in Hook of Holland at 8am, and will have had breakfast. Hoping to drive in 2.5 hour chunks with a reasonable stop to give the boys a run about and hopefully prevent insanity! This should mean about 3 stops (in that ideal world where no one needs an unexpected loo stop
)
We would ideally like to go via Bremen and Hamburg (ie not into either city, but on the motorways that bypass them). Can anyone recommend good places to break the journey? Ideally we would like the stops to be off the motorway, but not miles off, have access to toilets, a decent play area, and for the middle stop at least to have food available nearby. Don't want much do I?
Any frequent travellers or German and Danish MNers with tips would be much appreciated. Beginning to wonder if we've bitten off more than we can chew...
