Headphone adapter for plane

Hi Just wondered if anyone knows if you need an adapter to use normal headphones on a plane. We have the normal single mini jack fitting.

Mine worked fine in May with no adapter. We were on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner if that makes any difference.

No you don't. We flew with Virgin Atlantic this week and their headphones were useless, so I used mine instead with no problem. 747 jumbo jet.
