Hope no-one minds if I start another thread as the old one is full?

Or are you all in Orlando now? Smile

Yay I love these threads.

Booked for our 3rd trip for Nov 2017 for my birthday. We book with Travel city direct, part of virgin but cheaper we've found. Only things you don't get are the v room and magical express which we don't need anyway.

I cannot wait! I'm obsessed with the Dibb and a Facebook group I've found Grin

When you book ADR's and Fast Passes through www.mydisneyexperience 180 days before, can you book for the duration of your holiday or can you only do it a week at a time?

SienaSun · 01/09/2016 20:16

Thanks Hula Smile

Hulababy · 01/09/2016 21:17

Pop tart - depends if you are staying in a Disney hotel or not, and have it linked to your account.

This year we are - so when I went to do my first ADR it allowed me to do them all for the week (180 days from the day I arrived, so 181 days from the first ADR and 188 from the final one) Apparently the FastPass is the same - if staying in a Disney resort you can book from 60 days and for the duration of the holiday.

If not at a Disney hotel then you have to do them daily - 180 days for each ADR. We had to do that for last year, and 30 days for Fast pass.

PoptartPoptart · 01/09/2016 23:15

Thanks Hula. We are staying in a Disney hotel. So just to clarify, 180 days before I can log onto the Disney site and book the ADR's & FP's for the duration of my holiday (ie, 2 weeks)?

mouldycheesefan · 02/09/2016 07:12

No it's ADRS at 180 days and fast passes at 60 days if staying onsite.

ShakespeareanQuotations · 02/09/2016 07:45

Sienasun

T-Rex and Rainforest cafe can also be booked directly, as they are not Disney restaurants. They only release a certain amount of tables to Disney for ADRs.
Many people have reported success booking a table at T-Rex directly through them by phone.

We've just returned from a fantastic fortnight. Booked through Virgin Ok and couldn't fault them. Did a week at animal kingdom lodge so we could do all the Disney parks, then transferred to the hard rock hotel for the second week to do the universal parks. Hard rock also provide buses to aquatica, sea world and Busch gardens so being onsite made it so easy, no driving etc!

MerricatsHouse · 02/09/2016 13:59

If staying on Disney site you can book ADRs for 180 days + 10, so it'd cover you for a week but if your holiday is a fortnight you'd probably have to log on a few more days in a row to cover the last four days.

Still wondering how many Fast Passes to book 60 days out, not sure I want to be THAT organised.

Yes - it is for the duration. I thought it was 180 days for each day. But it really wasn't.

I went on the MyDisneyExperience website when it was 180 days before we landed. We go February and it was a date in August. WDW (who we booked with this time) sent me an email that morning.
I was surprised to discover that I was able to book ADRs for every day of our holiday - not just the day we arrived. So the final day was booked at 187 days before we will go.

Found this online:

Guests staying on or off Disney property can make Advance Dining Reservations. Those staying at a Disney owned-resort can book their reservations 180 days in advance, plus up to 10 days of their vacation stay, giving them an advantage over other potential diners to book all of their dining reservations at once.

So it is 180 days PLUS 10 days for resort guests. So if going for a fortnight it won't cover all your holiday unfortunately but much of it.

Similar for FP+ but that is 60 days PLUS the duration of your stay.

Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels can make FastPass+ reservations up to 60 days in advance of check-in for their entire length of stay.

Hulababy · 02/09/2016 21:57

Merriscat - we book all of them. You can always swap or cancel them later on, or not use them.

PoptartPoptart · 02/09/2016 23:52

Wow that's great news about the ADR's & FP bookings, thanks!

Lonecatwithkitten · 03/09/2016 01:48

Currently in Orlando, we have not done Disney as DD not interested. Universal has been fabulous in particular I would rate the story they tell in the queue before the ride.
Kennedy Space centre is probably the most interestingly place I have ever been and not the redundant place the guide books portray. They are gearing up for manned launches in 2018 which you learn about as well as the shuttles and Apollo program. We did 'lunch with an astronaut' which was worth. Every penny.
I gave driven everywhere, but I have previously lived in the US so am very comfortable with the system.

oklumberjack · 03/09/2016 09:17

Booked yesterday with Virgin. Liz (at Virgin) was amazing and thought of every single thing and had heaps of advice. I know it's her job, but it's just what we needed!

We're staying in the French quarter of the Port Orleans Resort end of August 2017. 2 days Universal, Kennedy Space Centre, Discovery Cove (including swimming with Dolphins), Aquatica (not too interested in Seaworld itself). We're hiring a car as DH is confident driving in the US plus we wanted a bit of freedom.

I took me a while to get my head around all the Disney perks etc. I'm still a bit fuzzy. Booking restaurants months before we go is a new one on me!

Dcs will be 12 and 10. Disney dining experience? Liz mentioned that everyone's lives Be My Guest, but are they too old? Are there others that are really good?

Hulababy · 03/09/2016 11:23

oklumberjack - depends on your DC. DD is 14y and adores all things Disney, and is a huge Beauty and the Beast fan. She loved BOG. Mind you, so did my 30+ year old sister - another fan.

You 12y and 10y may enjoy the 50s Diner at Hollywood Studios - you get 'told off' for not eating your veg or having elbows on the table, and things like that.

My DD turns into a little kid again when she is at the parks - lovely actually, she moves away from the make up/fashion/celebs type influences and back to be excited my Mickey Mouse, princess, Stitch and Harry Potter, etc.

Our next visit is February and we are taking DD's friend too - first timer. And they are beyond excited at having booked a range of character and experience type ADRs!

PoptartPoptart · 03/09/2016 14:07

DS is mad about crazy golf so we are looking at either Pirate Cove or Congo River on International Drive. Has anyone been? Which is better?

mouldycheesefan · 03/09/2016 15:00

Hula baby,Yes, you can book all your ADRS 180 days before you travel if staying onsite. That's what I did. We were there for 9 days.

ChestyNut · 04/09/2016 10:51

I'm looking at tickets for next year, there's 3 adults going. I'd like the memory maker this time.
Could I buy 2 magic your way tickets and just 1ultimate to get the MM?
We would be together all the time. Would this be ok?

ShakespeareanQuotations · 04/09/2016 11:08

Yes, you only need one MemoryMaker for the group so that would work.

ChestyNut · 04/09/2016 14:26

Great thanks. Works out quite a bit cheaper.

PoptartPoptart · 10/09/2016 18:22

Has anyone ever driven to Kennedy Space Centre from Orlando (Disney hotel)? Just wondering how long the drive is?

2014newme · 10/09/2016 18:24

We drove to kennedy from Disney hotel this year it was about 1.25 hours and an easy well sign posted drive. Fantastic place I would recommend it you get to meet a real astronaut who has been to space!

PoptartPoptart · 10/09/2016 19:15

Thanks newme. Did you do the space launch experience? It sounds really cool but I'm worried it might be too intense (I get travel sick and vertigo so can't go on anything too extreme)

Oblomov16 · 10/09/2016 19:19

Watching with interest.
We too are going in 2018.
