We are hoping to plan a weekend away in November for FiLs 70th birthday. There will be 15 of us (9 adults 6 kids). Any ideas of places we could go/stay that won't cost the earth and have things to do for kids. About 2 hours from Essex. A lot of the houses/holiday parks I've found are over £3000 for 2 nights!! Any help or ideas would be appreciated SmileEnvy

Anything here looking at 3k per week, so if they will do weekends, should be less.
First thing you need to work out is how many bedrooms you need. Sleeps 15 may be in 5 family rooms, or 7 doubles and a cot.

Rent an entire YHA hostel?

anotherdayanotherdinner · 22/07/2016 11:28

Thanks all, the website looks good greensand I'll have a closer look when the kids give me 5 mins peace! There are 3 groups we could split in which would be 2 adults 2 kids, 2 adults 4 kids and 5 adults

In terms of accommodation anything is good it just has to be good for kids and one room ideally needs to be wheelchair accessible

I'm crap on distance but I sorted a place in Wales called plas colwyn for a weekend. Fab house, well equipped and £1200 for three nights. We also had a private caterer come in on the Saturday evening rather than cooking.

it had a console room/snug for the kids and wasn't far away from bounce below either (trampolining in caves).

Several YHAs can be rented complete in the off season. I've been to three parties like this, although I wasn't the actual organiser. I've also been to two that were in accommodation attached to youth/outward bound type places.

Norfolk

Or hire 3 different cottages sleeping 4 people within the village - most are £350 for a 3 day weekend. So could have 3 cottages for just over £1000

Not a cottage
