A1 (M) Yorkshire day out - help?

I'm looking for somewhere to meet for a day out that is roughly half way between Sheffield and Durham, where there will be activities to amuse a 2yo, 9yo and 11yo (plus somewhere ok to eat for them and adults). Any ideas? Thanks!

Newby Hall near Ripon. They have the most amazing play ground - they have little boats on the water, a great adventure playground with a raft, zip wire etc, plus a minature railway you can go on. Take towels - they have a water play bit.

Really nice cafe too. Here but do check the dates they say there are closed - assume for weddings etc.
