Car hire

Off to Mallorca for fortnight soon - we are a family of 6. Prices are bloody huge for car hire - we definition need one because we're staying in a remote villa.

Any thoughts on how to hire cheaper?! Two small cars aren't an option for us.

Bumping this because I'm in exactly the same dilemma only we're travelling VERY soon (gah!).

Basically it is the size of car you want. I doubt that you will be able to get a cheap car to accommodate 6 people.

When we've needed a people carrier in the past in Spain we actually found it was cheaper to hire a minibus

Hopping do you drive it yourself? Who do you hire it from?

If you are not pressed for time too much - try not hiring the car from the airport. Reach your hotel in some way and then walk around and find a local car rental company

Twice on different canary islands have tried this 'strategy' and get at least 25-30% lower price than when you book from the airport. but you need to have at least 2 hours to ask around about local/cheap car rentals..the locals will always recommend you something good
