How easy is it to get from Cologne Bonn airport into the city

Really, really easy.

Follow the signs for the train station once you get through customs. Buy a ticket for 2.80 euros and get on an S13 or an RE8 heading into the city. The machines you get your tickets from speak English if you press the union jack flag.

Get of a Köln Hauptbahnhof, it take 15 mins and there is rarely more than 15 mins between trains.

The Philharmonie is about a 5 min walk from there.

The only thing that you need to be aware of is that the queue for the ticket machine can be really long (20 mins or so) if you are there at morning rush hour or on a day when there is a big convention in town.
